The Truth They Don’t Tell You About “Wellness”
I’ve seen it. I’ve lived it.
When I was a W2 employee, I was bringing in nearly $3,800 a week in services.
But my paycheck? Averaged around $800.
Managers earning bonuses for hitting spa/salon goals.
I was the one praised for my productivity.
Top in retail sales.
High booking rates.
But in reality, I only made $15 an hour, $1 from every $100 retail sale, and 20% commission per session.
Some places were better. Some were worse.
The pressure was constant. Work harder. Pick up more hours. Push through the pain.
But how much is too much?
No one talks about the truth of longevity and safety in massage.
How long can your body keep up when rest isn’t part of the business model?
When the same industry that preaches wellness quietly profits from burnout?
I’ve watched talented therapists cry in linen closets.
I’ve watched managers celebrate productivity while the soul of the work was being stripped away.
And the message was clear: be replaceable, be quiet, be grateful.
But I wasn’t born to be quiet.
That’s why I'm building Rebel Wellness.
A space that doesn’t just sell “wellness.” It lives it. Where your story is sacred, you are seen and you are heard.
Where healers are human.
And healing is real, its raw and unapologetic.
Where rest isn’t a privilege, it’s part of the practice.
Where guests walk in and feel the difference because the therapist isn’t surviving… they are thriving.
This is the rebellion the industry needs.
And it starts with truth.
It starts with Rebel Wellness.
So to every therapist, healer, and bodyworker out there:
You are not lazy for needing rest.
You are not weak for saying enough.
Your hands and your heart are sacred tools.
Protect them like they’re holy because they are.
💀 Drop a 🖤 if you’re done working for systems that preach “wellness” but sell burnout.
Let’s start the conversation no one else will.
