Four Months Old, Three New Badges, and One Sassy Little Fluff Goblin

Today is a special day because Onyx is officially four months old.

Somehow, this sassy little fluff goblin has gone from tiny puppy to growing Husky at lightning speed. He's gaining confidence, learning new skills, testing boundaries, and occasionally reminding me that Huskies come preloaded with opinions.

And by opinions, I mean he feels the need to provide commentary on nearly every training request.

"Sit?" — Arooo.

"Down?" — Wooowooo... woof... arrooo.

"Touch?" — Really? Let me tell you how I already know this.

Apparently silence is not part of the Husky operating system.

Onyx had a pretty big day at puppy school.

He earned three badges:

🐾 Puppy Preschool Graduate

🐾 Position Badge

🐾 Focus Badge

Needless to say, his human is pretty proud.

Graduating from Puppy Preschool means Onyx has successfully completed some of the foundation skills needed to move into more advanced training and is fully vaccinated.. It is not just about learning commands. It is about learning how to learn, how to work with distractions, and how to build confidence in new environments and trust his humans.

Lets be real tough, its about training the trainer.

One of the badges he earned today was Position.

Position work teaches a dog where to be in relation to their handler. This includes skills like walking beside you, sitting in the correct place, and learning body awareness. While it may sound simple, position training creates clear communication between dog and human.

Think of it as learning how to dance with a partner. The more both partners understand where they belong, the smoother everything becomes.

The second badge was Focus.

Focus is one of the most important skills any dog can learn.

The world is full of distractions. People. Dogs. Squirrels. Interesting smells. Random leaves blowing across a parking lot.

Focus training teaches a dog to check in with their handler and pay attention even when exciting things are happening around them.

A dog that can focus is easier to train, safer in public, and more confident in unfamiliar situations. It builds trust and strengthens the bond between dog and human.

For a young Husky, focus can sometimes feel like asking a toddler to ignore a carnival and pay attention to their math homework. Which makes this badge especially meaningful.

Especially when that toddler insists on narrating the entire experience.

Then the third badge was completing puppy preschool. Socializing safely at an early age is so very important, in so many ways. I really was blessed to have had such a great breeder who began that journey from day one. Thank you Bama Huskies!

Despite the running commentary, Onyx continues to impress me with how much he is learning and how eager he is to work.

Every class, every walk, every training session is helping shape the dog Onyx is becoming.

Today was not just about earning badges.

It was about building teamwork.

It was about trust.

It was about celebrating four months of growth, learning, and adventures together.

And this sassy little fluff goblin is proving that hard work pays off, even if he insists on singing the soundtrack himself.

Onward to the next adventure. 🐺🖤

Some dogs collect toys.
Some dogs collect toys.

This one collects badges.

Officially 4 months old today and celebrating with three new achievements:

🎓 Preschool Graduate🎯 Focus🐾 Position

Not bad for a sassy little fluff goblin with strong opinions and absolutely zero interest in keeping those opinions to himself.

Proud of this boy.Proud of the work.Proud of the bond we're building.

Now excuse us while we go celebrate with treats and questionable life choices involving sticks. 🖤🐺
